I put this in the crock pot about an hour ago. I'm already looking forward to this evening's dinner. Slow-cooked green beans with potatoes and ham make an awesome combination.

Fill a 6-quart or larger crock pot, half with water. Add all ingredients except of the onions. Cook on high for 6 hours or on low for 8 hours. Add the onions to the pot about an hour before the beans are done. Enjoy them with your favorite bread or other sides. (I usually enjoy this with a piece of cornbread.)

- 3 lbs of fresh or frozen green beans (broken into thirds or leave them whole if preferred)
- 4 cups of peeled and cubed potatoes
- 2 cups of cubed center cut ham steak
- 1/2 stick of butter
- 1/2 cup of chopped onions
- 5 chicken bouillon cubes
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- salt to taste
