Homemade Cheesesticks

I can't tell you how delicious these are! They are so crispy and cheesy and are made in a flash with just three ingredients.  The kids loved them! :)

My oldest daughter challenged me to make my own cheesesticks and this is the result of my "hard labor". I'm impressed with how easy it was to make them. It's important that the cheesesticks are frozen so that they don't melt while cooking. The cheesesticks take only about an hour to freeze.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 10 mozzarella/colby jack cheesesticks, frozen
  • 20 club crackers, crushed
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • 1 medium-sized sandwich bag

Note: I used a medium-sized skillet to fry the cheesesticks.

Directions

To make the cheesesticks, pour the olive oil in a medium-sized skillet and heat the skillet on medium highheat  unitl it is hot.

While the oil is heating, add the crushed crackers to the medium-sized sandwich bag and set aside.

Remove the frozen cheesesticks from each individual package and break each one in half.  Add the frozen cheesesticks to the beaten eggs and fully coat the cheesesticks with the beaten eggs. Then, dd the coated cheese to the sandwich bag. Close the bag and shake the bag to make certain that the frozen cheesesticks are fully covered by the crackers.

Once the frozen cheesesticks are covered, add them to the hot oil, and cook them just until each side is golden brown. This should only take about a minute or two.

Quickly remove the cheesesticks from the oil and place them on a platter to cool. Enjoy with your favorite marinara sauce or dip!

Yields 4 - 6 servings
